Egg Peeling

Ok, I totally remember why I never make hard boiled eggs, or anything that involves hard boiled eggs. I really suck at peeling the dang things. And I made a dozen and a half of them today for breakfast and for egg salad. But hey! I made egg salad, which I think I did a pretty decent job of doing. Just, I really despise the peeling of the shell part. It really is a good thing I wasn't planning on trying my hand at deviled egg's 'cause well...they would be horribly broken due to my egg peeling ways.

So this summer, I've decided to start working on a whole new me, a more improved and better me. It won't all be perfect, just like the eggs I peeled today, but it'll still be good, just like the egg salad. I just need to chip away at the old shell, and start thinking better of myself.

I'm the type of person who constantly blames herself for everything, even if I had no part in it. I'm a bad mother, a bad student, a bad "insert word here". I've never really had any self-esteem or any confidence, but it's time to change that. And this time I mean to change it. No more half-assed attempts, no more giving up. I'm going to follow through on it this time.

How do I intend to do that?

-Working out. Zumba, Just Dance, abs, walking, biking, hiking, etc. Exercise I think is a great way to start. Getting into shape and feeling like you can do anything is a great way to get my self-esteem going. I just hope I don't kill myself accidentally with as accident prone that I am.

-Eating better. And actually eating. I really suck at the whole remembering to eat on a consistent basis thing.

-Going outside more. Though, gotta try to figure out how to NOT get a nice lovely coating of red. Being fair-skinned sucks. And sunscreens seem to turn me into a neon sign to the sun and doesn't help me at all.

-Getting organized and house cleaned. I've been slowly working on this one. Found a great site to help me keep track of the household bills. And going to be getting rid of seven things a day for about 30 days, which will help me get rid of some of my clutter.

-Get my driver's license. Hey, if I can drive, I can take the kids out places and have lots of fun, and not feel like a bum being stuck at home all the time.

So hopefully, by summer's end, I've made a significant progress in removing the old shell, and becoming a better me, a better mom, and better "insert word here". Then I just need to make sure I stick with everything through the school year.

Outside Outside Outside

I must say, the heat really really sucks, but what can one do when they live in NY? At least we get snow a couple months out of the year. The kids aren't enjoying the heat either, even though we've now got the A/C up and running. Poor Emily would just rather sleep the day away with it being so hot, and Michael gets so incredibly cranky. Ah wells, hopefully the A/C will help a bit with it keeping them a bit cooler.

So, today after work, me and the kids spent the entire day watching a variety of kid shows. Baby Signing Time, Calliou, Kipper, and now we're watching Chuck and Friends. I have to say out of all of these today, Chuck is my favorite because it has the least annoying voices of them which makes it easier to tune out. Though Baby Signing Time does teach the kids some signs so it is educational, and very musical. And the kids love music a lot.

But hopefully we'll be able to spend a bit more time outside here soon. Hoping to maybe get some sort of small tent to have up outside for the kids to sit and play in to get out of the sun for a bit. Being redheads and all we don't really like the sun a whole lot and the sun sure does not like us. The kids have also been helping me tend my small little garden that I have started. A couple of irises, tomatoes, onions, and some herbs. Maybe with the next paycheck or two I can get some more flowers.

Speaking of outside, I found a ton of awesome DIY crafts for outside that I want to do that I found on Pinterest. And many of them the kids can help me with as well. So I'm looking forward to making the outside all nice and pretty, and actually comfortable to want to be outside. Need to keep an eye out for a kid's picnic  table, a small bistro set, a grill, and an outdoor rug.

The only thing I'm nervous about with having the kids outside all the time, is the wasps we have around the house. We seem to have a nasty problem of them since they have a nest in the roof, and I'm worried that the kids will get stung when Kevin is at work, and they have a severe reaction to it and I can't get them to the hospital in time. So hoping it doesn't happen, but we shall see. First things first is getting the outside safe and ready to play.

Who am I?

Hello there!

Who am I you ask? Well that's a good question. I am just an average mom, student, and significant other who is just trying to stay afloat and make sure my kids have everything they need.

I have two red-headed children; Michael is three and Emily is one. They are both inseparable and love each other very much. Michael is my highly independent, to smart for his own good little drama queen, while Emily is daddy's little diva who mimics everything her big brother does. They both enjoy watching Calliou, Fresh Beat Band, Foster's Imaginary Home for Imaginary Friends, and Powerpuff Girls. A couple of their favorite movies are Cats, The Hobbit, Hotel Transylvania[Blah blah blah movie], and Brave[Bear movie]. Their favorite animals are dragons and cats.

We also have two cats who go by the name of Misprint and Ink, our two little furry troublemakers.

My significant other, Kevin, is an amazing man, and while we have our problems like any other couple, we both love each other very much. And just like myself , he loves to read and play games.

Myself? I'm 23, part time retail worker who goes to work at 3:45am, doing truck unload and stocking. I go to school full time and am currently a Humanities major. I'm looking to go into Theatre and Music but considering possibly going into nursing as well. Not sure yet. I've got so many interests that it's hard to really narrow down something.

Some of my hobbies are reading[sci-fi/fantasy are my fave.], playing video games, gardening, roleplaying, going for walks, and more.

Really, all in all, I'm just a normal mom. Who just kind of has a really really hectic life. Though, since it's summer break for me right now, I have a bit of free time. So, I hope you enjoy reading this as I post things in it.
